Perfectly imperfect.
Wonderfully horrid.
An avid demonstrator of all things detrimental and splendid.
A perfect example of how not to live your life unless you are absolutely ready to start living it.

Dinosaurs, Fairies & Volcanos

(Almost) all day in the confines of briefs, training, etc. and for lunch we treated ourselves to sushi.  Once a month we allow ourselves to dine-out for lunch.

No green beer or corned beef hash this go 'round.  Next year we'll actually dine-out for a St. Patrick's Day dinner w/ the kids and I already have a restaurant in mind.  First and foremost on the day's agenda was getting our remodeling plans in order.  So far, so good but still I'm not sure we'll have it all complete before Easter.

Best to deal with a less than optimistic outlook was to delve headfirst into the wonderful world of home.  My children & I made a bird house and filled it with grass, leaves, twigs and fake flowers yanked off a bouquet display.

Once inside we worked on their day planners, decorated the cover, put stickers on all the holidays including birthdays, and wrote in the things they wanted to do.

Kade wanted to study and "study" he did.  He stacked all of his dinosaur books and began flipping through all the pages pointing out his favorites, asking us to tell us the names of the rest.

Right before he went from dinosaurs to trains, Drew read "Dinosaur Days" by Joyce Milton.

Bijou really loved her planner.  She wrote her name in it, her address and wrote our names on our birth dates.  My thinking was that this just might be her intro to creating and sticking to plans and schedules.  Might help, certainly can't hurt.

She flipped through that and through her fairy book, "If You See A Fairy Ring".  Yup, Drew read that one too.

We discussed a few more things; briefly discussed hieroglyphics, Egyptians and the pyramids. Kade put his hand over a pyramid and made explosive sounds saying that it was a volcano.  Ha!  I never thought of that before but yeah he's right.  Children's minds are always right.

It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things.

But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the extraordinary.
